You can choose to crop your video to one size for all ad placements or to the ideal size for each. Cropping to the ideal size for each ad placement can help improve your ad performance across Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp and Meta Audience Network. ## To crop your video for each ad placement: 1. Begin to [create your video ad](/business/help/247179845697378) in [Meta Ads Manager](/adsmanager/manage/ads). 2. In the **Ad creative** section, click **Add video**. 3. Select your video and click **Next**. 4. Check the boxes next to each ad placement group you want to crop for. * **Horizontal (16:9)** \- Search results, In-stream reels * **Vertical (9:16)** \- Stories, Status and Reels, Apps and Sites * **Square (1:1)** \- Feeds, In-stream reels 5. To make adjustments, hover over a video and click **Crop**. Move the cropping grid to the position you want, then click **Confirm**. 6. When you’re finished, click **Done**. Note that if you want to crop your video for a specific placement, click the **Select a placement to edit** dropdown and choose the placement you want. You can also hover over a placement in the Ads Manager preview section and click the **Edit** button. ## To crop your video to one size: 1. Begin to [create your video ad](/business/help/247179845697378) in [Ads Manager](/adsmanager/manage/ads). 2. In the **Ad creative** section, upload your video. 3. Click **Edit video** to open the Edit window. 4. Click the **Crop** tab. 5. To manually crop your video, click **Manual**. To automatically crop your video, click **Automatic**. Manual cropping requires you to set the crop area yourself. Automatic cropping uses our scene detection technology to determine the best focal point for your video. 6. If you want to manually crop your video: 1. Select a desired aspect ratio:**1:1** , **4:5** or **9:16**. 2. Click and drag the cropping grid to the position you want on your video. 3. (Optional) Click the **Preview** toggle to hide the cropping grid. 4. Click **Apply**. Your video is now cropped to your selected aspect ratio. 7. If you want to automatically crop a video: 1. Select a desired aspect ratio: **9:16** or **1:1**. 2. (Optional) Click the **Play** button to preview your automatically-cropped video. 3. Click **Apply**. Your video is now cropped to your selected aspect ratio. **Note:** We recommend that you use the 4:5 aspect ratio for video ads on Facebook Feed. On the desktop version of Feed, the video shows with a 1:1 aspect ratio, which may cause black bars to appear on either side of the video.
