An ad account spending limit is a flexible lifetime cap on the total money your ad account can spend across all ad campaigns you're running from the time you set it. Setting an ad account spending limit helps control costs and ensures you don't exceed your desired ad budget. By aligning the limit with your overall advertising budget, you can optimize results for your business. Your ad account spending limit doesn't affect ad delivery or performance. However, when spending reaches the limit, your ads pause, and the account stops spending. You set your ad account spending limit. If your ad pauses without reaching your budget or ad account spending limit, you may have hit your [daily spending limit](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/563129151097553), set by Meta and reset daily. ## Tracking your ad account spending limit After you [create an ad account spending limit](https://www.facebook.com/help/203321833042958), you can track the amount you're spending toward it in your [Payment settings](https://business.facebook.com/billing_hub/payment_settings). When eligible, you can get experimentally proven ad account spending limit recommendations in opportunity score. Opportunity score is a tool from Meta that helps you identify and prioritize effective campaign recommendations in near real time. Actual performance depends on many factors and your opportunity score does not guarantee performance. ## If you reach your ad account spending limit When you reach your ad account spending limit, you'll receive a notification about the pause, but ads will still be listed as active in Meta Ads Manager. To resume ads immediately: * [Change your ad account spending limit](https://www.facebook.com/help/764293677236889) * [Remove an ad account spending limit](https://www.facebook.com/help/2135167003399680) * [Reset amount spent toward your ad account spending limit](https://www.facebook.com/help/1892523930869907) For example, at the start of the month, you set a $100 spending limit to match your monthly budget. As ads run throughout the month, spending rises until it hits the limit of $100. All ads pause, and you receive a notification informing you that you've reached your ad account spending limit. To resume ads, adjust or remove the limit in Payment settings, or reset the spending amount to align with your budget.
